A lifetime of songwriting, told one song at a time.

Bob Peek is a songwriter, musician, and frontman whose work spans decades, genres, and collaborations — from early recordings in the late 1970s to new musical projects still unfolding today.

Bob Peek was born in Belmont, California and graduated from Carlmont High School in 1974. A year later, he picked up a guitar and began writing songs — a pursuit that would quietly shape the rest of his life. By 1978, he was recording his first material, and soon after began performing in early groups including Destiny and Belladonna.

His first band devoted entirely to original material was Delton Ace, which released its debut single, “81307 Holly Lane” / “Elizabeth Can’t Sleep Nights,” in 1979. In late 1980, Bob moved to Nashville for a year, where one of his songs was considered for a John Michael Montgomery album — an early signal that his songwriting had legs beyond the local scene.

In 1982, Bob married his wife Lisa and began raising their two children, Andy and Juliana. That same year, he entered into a business partnership with his father, Chet, at Burch Bros. Concrete — balancing family, work, and music in parallel rather than choosing just one path.

In 1986, Bob released Malebolge, a four-song EP with the group Tragedy Cells, marking the first of several creative collaborations with Gina Del Vecchio. Over the years, his songwriting continued to evolve across styles and formats, including the 2006 release of Adventures in Science Fiction, an album of original sci-fi themed songs.

In 2015, Bob joined the British Invasion group The Collective, and in 2018 released My Good Dog, A Doobie, And You— an album of country songs recorded and sung by Nashville session players. His work has consistently crossed genres while staying rooted in strong songwriting and storytelling.

More recent projects include forming the Roy Orbison tribute band The Band BobRoy in 2022, and releasing Karnal Origami in 2024 — a 12-song musical with the group 7th Grade Truants. His next release, The Unclouding of Otilla Vanilla, is a scripted 12-song musical created with HeyBobby!, scheduled for release in March 2026 and marking his second major project with Gina Del Vecchio.

Bob’s songs have also taken on lives of their own through other artists. Independent musicians have recorded and released many of his compositions, including “Merry Christmas, Mrs. Claus,” which has been recorded by twelve different artists. His current single is Kimberlye Gold’s cover of “Our Secret Fire.”

Bob has received numerous awards for his songwriting, including Overall Song of the Year in the West Coast Songwriter’s Association International Song Contest, as well as Country Song of the Year three times with the WCSA. His primary songwriting partner is Denny Francis, and he has also collaborated with Gina Del Vecchio, Jimmy Goings (Santa Esmeralda), Robert Cassidy, Jeff Carr, and many others.

This podcast is a continuation of that long road — a place to share the songs, the stories behind them, and the collaborators who helped shape them. It’s not a retrospective meant to wrap things up, but an ongoing conversation with the work itself, as it continues to unfold.
